Estimator

As a Senior Estimator based out of our Benicia office you will play a key role in the pursuit process for Heavy Civil projects across Northern California. Ideally have a background in Earthworks and Underground Drainage and Utilities, you will prepare and/or coordinate complete estimates for assigned medium-sized projects. Responsibilities Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate Review schedule of projects being estimated Organize estimating team to prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid Perform or assist risk and contract management responsibilities as required Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures Prepare discipline estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues Monitor client addendum and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period Prepare or assist bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors May review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials Work with Company employees, owners and subcontractors to get commitment/consensus regarding proposed bids Obtain knowledge of project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project to meet affirmative action requirements and MBE/WBE requirements Review list of work to be performed by subcontractors Review final estimate Partner with other estimators to turn project over to Operations team Follow awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits Advise on major changes in scope of work Monitor actual cost to estimated cost Upon project completion, conduct debriefing with estimating, engineering and Operations teams to discuss positive and negative aspects of the project Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors Assist Estimating Manager with performance reviews Develop and brainstorm ideas and analyze best value solution to pursue Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example Maintains knowledge of Flatiron's company values and strategic plan Support published corporate policies Perform additional assignments per management's direction Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering (Civil or Construction Management) Extensive experience quantifying and bidding Earthworks & Underground scopes. 10+ years of related work experience 10+ Years of relevant industry experiencerequired  Knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid will be highly regarded Caltrans project experience will be highly regarded and previous experience bidding DOT projects is required.  Excellent organizational, communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills Demonstrated aptitude to understand engineering projects Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is also required. Advanced knowledge of AGTEK software required

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
