Position
Summary:
As an Accounts Payable Clerk I, you will complete payments and control expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, reconciling invoices along with other daily administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will have accounting and office administration experience, analytical skills, strong organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
This position will be have no direct reports; individual contributor.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for paying merchandise vendors timely to avoid delays in shipments: Scheduling and preparing checks; resolving invoices, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos.
Responsible for fielding and verifying vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
Data entry of invoices; verifying input and documentation.
Organizing, coding, posting and filing of invoices.
Researching invoice and vendor variances.
Opening and disbursing daily mail.
Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Updates job knowledge by cross training with Team Members.
Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
Two-year certificate in Accounting or equivalent work experience in accounting and/or retail merchandising.
A minimum of 2 years of hands-on accounting or retail merchandising with vendor reconciliation experience is required.
Must be detail-orientated.
Skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data for a company with annual revenue of $50M to $400M.
Well versed in general accounting and reconciliation principals.
Must be possess advanced skills and be proficient in use of Microsoft Excel and Access.
MAS90a
experience a plus.
RetailPro experience a plus.
Previous data entry experience required.
Previous accounts payable and/or retail merchandising experience a plus.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Written & Verbal).
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
